Definition: An annual tax-free payment to help with heating costs over winter, paid to those over State Pension age. Means-tested from 2024/25 — limited to recipients of Pension Credit and certain other benefits.
Eligibility is checked automatically if you receive a qualifying benefit. Pension Credit is the most common gateway; if you might be entitled and have not claimed, doing so before the qualifying week is essential.
