Common questions

Is VAT included in UK shop prices?
Yes for consumer prices — the tag price usually includes VAT. Business-to-business quotes may be shown excluding VAT.
Can I reclaim VAT as a consumer?
No. Only VAT-registered businesses can reclaim VAT on eligible purchases through their VAT return.
What about exempt supplies?
Some services like insurance and education are VAT-exempt, not zero-rated — this calculator covers rated supplies only.
