Eligible pensioners and households on qualifying means-tested benefits in England and Wales receive the £150 electricity bill credit automatically. Scotland's broader group still requires applying through your supplier.

The Warm Home Discount scheme provides a one-off £150 reduction on electricity bills between October and March. In England and Wales, Core Group 1 (Pension Credit Guarantee Credit) and Core Group 2 (qualifying means-tested benefits) are matched automatically — you do not apply through your supplier.
If you believe you qualify in England or Wales but have not received the credit by spring, contact your supplier or the Warm Home Discount helpline. In Scotland, low-income households outside Core Group 1 may need to apply through their supplier's broader group when applications open.
The discount is applied as a credit to the electricity bill, not paid in cash. Dual-fuel customers still receive it on the electricity account. Prepayment meter customers receive a voucher or automatic top-up depending on the supplier.
