In short: The Household Support Fund runs in tranches set by the government and is distributed by local councils — application windows and amounts differ by area. Check your council website for current deadlines; funds can run out before the tranche ends.

Councils use the HSF for food vouchers, energy credits and essential bills. Some target pensioners, families or all low-income residents.

Apply through your council — not DWP. You may need proof of income or benefit receipt.

HSF complements Universal Credit and Pension Credit — claim all support you qualify for.
