What is Funeral Expenses Payment?

In short: It is a DWP grant toward some funeral costs if you get a qualifying benefit and you are arranging the funeral. It does not usually pay the whole bill. Apply within six months. Scotland uses Funeral Support Payment instead.

It can cover burial or cremation fees, some travel, documents, and up to £1,000 of other funeral expenses (or up to £120 if there was a prepaid plan). Estate money available to you is deducted. Call 0800 151 2012 or use form SF200. Official: www.gov.uk/funeral-payments
Qualifying benefits include Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and income-related ESA. Relationship rules are strict. Typical prices: cost of a UK funeral.
