What is Access to Work?

In short: Access to Work is a DWP grant that can pay for equipment, travel, a support worker or workplace adaptations if you have a disability or health condition and you have a paid job, a job offer, or you are self-employed. It is not a replacement for PIP.

Awards are individual. Your employer is still expected to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010. Apply at www.gov.uk/access-to-work before or shortly after you start so equipment can arrive on time.
The grant is not means-tested. Earnings still affect Universal Credit in the usual way. You can get Access to Work and PIP together. Guide: Access to Work explained.
