What happens on property completion day?

In short: Your solicitor transfers mortgage funds and deposit to the seller's solicitor; once confirmed, the estate agent releases keys. You should have buildings insurance from exchange and arrange utilities and post redirection.

Completion usually happens by early afternoon on a weekday. Funds move through the banking system — delays can push keys to late afternoon.

Stamp Duty must be filed within 14 days. Your solicitor registers you at HM Land Registry.
