How do I apply for a GHIC card free?

In short: Apply at NHS.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad — you need your National Insurance number and passport details. The card is free; avoid websites charging a fee. Allow a few weeks for postal delivery.

Each traveller including children needs their own GHIC.
Renew before expiry — expired cards are not valid.
