# Who gets Winter Fuel Payment in 2026?

## In short

Pension-age households who receive Pension Credit or certain other means-tested benefits during the qualifying week. You must have been born before the State Pension age cutoff date set by DWP for that winter.

Rules tightened in 2024 — most pensioners not on qualifying benefits no longer receive it automatically.

If you qualify, payment is usually automatic to the account where your State Pension or benefit is paid.
