# What is protected no-claims bonus?

## In short

An optional add-on that lets you make one or two claims without losing your no-claims discount level — for an extra premium. It does not stop your overall premium rising after a claim.

Compare the cost of protection against the value of one year's NCB discount.

Non-fault claims may not affect NCB even without protection if costs are recovered.
