## In short

A fixed-term NS&I bond where proceeds finance green government projects. Rate is set at each issue and locked for the term — typically three years — with penalties for early access.

Green bonds appeal to savers wanting Treasury backing plus environmental purpose. Rates may not always beat best-buy fixed savings from banks.

Each issue has a subscription window and maximum deposit. Money is not protected by FSCS but is 100% HM Treasury backed.
