## In short

There is no single national lump-sum payment in 2026. Support arrives through April benefit uprating, Warm Home Discount (Oct–Mar), Winter Fuel Payment (Nov–Jan for eligible pensioners), year-round Council Tax Support, and council Household Support Fund grants.

Universal Credit and Pension Credit rates increase each April. Warm Home Discount gives £150 off electricity for eligible households in winter.

Winter Fuel Payment goes to qualifying pension-age households on Pension Credit or certain benefits — usually paid automatically in November or December.

Household Support Fund deadlines vary by council. See our cost-of-living timeline guide.
