# What is disabled person's allowance for Northern Ireland rates?

## In short

Disabled person's allowance reduces domestic rates where a property is adapted for a disabled resident or includes a room used mainly for care or treatment. LPS assesses eligibility — relief is not automatic from PIP or DLA awards alone.

Adaptations might include widened doors, wet rooms, stairlifts or dedicated treatment rooms. LPS may inspect the property.

Occupancy rules require a disabled person to live at the property. If they move, reassess entitlement.

Combine with Rate Rebate if income is also low — reliefs can stack depending on circumstances.
